ASA would like to remind all Clubs and families of the following important information regarding insurance coverage:
1. If you are a Club who has picked-up players during tryouts, and those players have not been registered with ASA during the current season, you need to register them if they are currently playing or practicing/training with your team so they are insured.  Any new administrators should also be registered immediately so they both have medical and liability coverage.
2. Parents - If your child has not completed club registration for the seasonal year, he/she is NOT insured through ASA insurance.  It is possible that your club has insured your player through US Club Soccer.  It is up to you to verify this information and contact them for any insurance issues.

2018-2019 - Open Tryout Beginning Dates: - NEW POLICY
Open Tryouts for the 2018-2019 season may start May 1 for all 12U and younger players and teams (12U = 2007 birth year).
Clubs tryouts for the 13U and older players and teams may start the day following the completion of the Arizona State Cup finals.
12U and younger:  May 1, 2018  (2007 and younger teams)
13U and older:  May 7, 2018 (2006 and older teams)
*Currently Registered players seeking to tryout with a club before the eligible tryout dates must seek approval from their current club.

International Clearance Process:

Please check with your club registrar for your club's procedures. Please do not send the paperwork to the US Soccer Federation.  Here is the link to the International Clearance Process:

Club Registrars are required to verify each player's age and a copy of the player's proof of age must be available to the State Registrar upon request. The following is a list of acceptable "Proof of Age" documents:
  • Board of Health Records 
  • Passport (current or expired) 
  • Birth certificate (must be a certified copy) 
  • Driver's License (not valid for State Championship play) 
  • Alien Registration Card (issued by the U.S. Government) 
  • Birth Registration issued by an appropriate governmental agency 
  • Certificate issued by the Immigration and Naturalization Service attesting to age 
  • Certificate of an American Citizen born abroad issued by the governing agency 

Note: Hospital, Baptismal or Religious Certificates are not acceptable as Proof of Age.  Documents in foreign languages must have an English translation attached to the original document (the translation is required for tournament play).

Passes must have a current photo and must be laminated. Player passes do not need to be signed.  A player is considered rostered: when placed on a team and that team is registered with the appropriate league. Once a player has been registered and rostered, any movement between clubs is considered a transfer.  Players coming from another State Association during the seasonal year must complete the Interstate Clearance Form prior to registering to a team within ASA.  

Players and coaches must present their passes to game or tournament officials prior to the start of each game. All passes, both for players and Coaches/Team Officials, must include a current picture and the pass must be laminated. Up to three (3) Assistant Coach passes are provided free to each team. Warning: Unregisted Players, If an unregistered player is allowed to participate in any ASA sanctioned event; the offending parties will be referred to the appropriate committee. This is a serious offense and could lead to suspension from ASA activities. Any coach who is found to have played a player who is over-age and/or illegally registered shall, at a minimum, be suspended for the remainder of the seasonal year in which the player is found to have played and the following seasonal year. In addition, the team shall forfeit any game(s) in which that player has taken part (AYSA Bylaw 803- False Registration).

To Transfer a player from one club to another during the seasonal year, the Player Transfer/Reel Form must be completed through the player's Stack Sports account using the following link:  CLICK HERE 
There must be a valid reason for a player to be released from a team:  The player has violated rules of the USSF, USYSA or the ASA. The player has moved beyond a reasonable travel distance; the determination of 'reasonable travel distance' is subject to definition by the ASA. The player is injured in such a manner that the player will not be able to participate for the remainder of the season. Please remember, a parent always has the right to request his/her child be released from a team.

Coaches/Parents, please remember the following transfer rules apply:

Players who transfer from one club club to another club after November 1st will be ineligible for participation in both Arizona Presidents Cup including Regionals and Nationals & the National Championship series (known as Arizona State Cup, Far West Regionals and US Youth Soccer Nationals) for that seasonal year. A transfer is defined as the process by which a player changes club affiliation, moving from one club an re-registering to a team within a different club within the same seasonal year. 
  • A maximum of five (5) transfers are allowed for teams which participate in the National Championship Series, known as Arizona State Cup
  • There is no limitation on transfers for teams participating in Arizona Presidents Cup
  • The November 1st transfer deadline does not apply to players registered as in house/rec/tier 4
  • The November 1st transfer deadline does not apply to the 19U age group for State and Presidents Cup
  • This policy is in effect for Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3 and Academy players
The Member Loan Form (available on the "ASA Forms" section of the MEMBER ADMIN tab) must be completed in its entirety with each of the appropriate designated team official signatures. State official signatures are not required.  Loan Forms must be held as proof of adherence to the ASA 5171 Policy. Link
