ODP Pool Training (YOP, 02-06)
Times TBA (in past year's younger ages tend to be mornings and older age groups in afternoons)
The YOP program was implemented to allow the younger age groups to experience the ODP experience before they actually are eligible. The focus of the YOP Program is on technical skill development and preparing players for the next step in the Olympic Development Program.
The main difference between ODP and YOP is no players will be cut and no state team will be selected at the conclusion. YOP is for players born in 2007 or 2006 and is designed to provide quality-training opportunities to the youngest age group players seeking new challenges and to give them a tournament experience and camp experience. Training will be focused on developing the players’ technical, tactical, physical and psycho-social ability through ASA’s ODP age-appropriate curriculum.
Training sessions are conducted by Arizona ODP staff coaches who are recognized for their ability to train and develop players. They include club, high school, and college coaches certified thru the US Soccer Federation and other international soccer agencies.
All players that are enrolled in the YOP age groups are invited to the Player Development Camp for advanced training in an overnight camp experience. There is an additional cost for the camp.
